Goddess Moon Circles Academy News Established 2001

Rev Treespeaker C , Editor

First Edition, 2003, Volume 3

Back to Classes!  Welcome back students & parents.

If you have any questions about class enrollment or billing, please contact Rev. Kurokami.

A Note to Parents:

Report cards

This is just a reminder that if you need a report card for your child at the end of the year, please be sure to contact your grade's teacher.  Make arrangements to receive the report card on a schedule both you and the teacher can agree upon.

Scholarships

All of our scholarships for the year have been awarded.  If there are any parents who would like to send suggestions for fund raising for next year's scholarship program, please contact either Rev. Treespeaker or Rev. Kurokami about your ideas.  Last year and this year's scholarships were donated by an Oregon coven.  The money is now completely awarded.  If your group or coven would like to sponsor a Pagan child to attend Goddess Moon Circles Academy, please email us or call.  We would very much like to make our low cost educational programs available to more children.

Also, since GMCA is part of Goddess Moon Circles, our non-profit organization, we are also investigating to see if donations towards the scholarship program can be tax deductible for our sponsors.

Parents Corner:  Book Swap!!!

Anyone wishing to exchange or sell used text or general books, please send your contact info to Rev. Treespeaker at the student news paper. We'll post what you have to trade and list what you're looking to buy or swap in return.

If you are a parent here at GMCA and would like to contribute something to our newspaper, please feel free to email it to the director of the paper, Rev. Treespeaker.

Students' Corner

Playing the City Champ

by Josh

GMCA 8th grade student

As my opponent made the first move

His pawn edged two spaces forward.

I imagined a scout looking ahead.

As I moved my knight

I saw a squad of cavalry

Gallop over the land.

As the game progressed

I felt the sweat drip from my brow down to the board

His rook took my bishop and guess what I saw?

I swear I saw a cardinal fall.

The game is almost over

And as I start to panic he takes my queen

I'm in a tight spot

To add to the problem I've lost my queen.

I see the queen resting in my mind

Where she is brutally stabbed in her sleep.

Now I'm not left with much

But I'll pull through.

I just know it.

As the duel drags on

Before I know it, the game is over.

As the smoke clears on the battlefield

I see my king beseech my opponents king.

News From the Teachers:

Fifth Grade News:  Rev Treespeaker

A chess section has been added to the 5th grade curriculum for the end of the year.  Anyone who is interested in playing chess sooner than semester 2, please check out some free software at www.chess.com.

Math Department News: Gabe

Two new  classes have been added to the math department.  Students in grades 4-8 are welcome to take "Challenge Math" a Gifted course covering everything from basic computation to algebra, geometry trig and calculus.  Students in grades 8-12 are welcome to take "Family Math" which covers logic thinking and Algebraic reasoning on an in depth scale.  Look for these under the Gifted Class section.

Fourth Grade: by Rev Kurokami

Things appear to be going well for 4th Grade.  I wanted to thank the parents for being willing to take this great step in their children's education and making the commitment to homeschool.

History Department News: by Rev Kurokami

There are some rather involved research activities within the assignments for US History.  Please encourage your child to research at the library (and take notes), and use search engines like Google and Mamma.
