Composition class requires no assigned text. I do ask that students keep a journal or notebook during this term and write their experiences, feelings and or whatnot. I will not grade or read these but would like students to make the effort as this can be a useful tool for any author or journalist. We will be writing about samples that I give to the class or readings from books that I will provide. There will also be a section on "everyday writings". Included in this section are lessons in how to write resumes, an article for a newspaper or magazine, a report with a bibliography, a business letter, a friendly letter, an editorial and an advertisement. Poetry will be covered at the end of the term with analysis and reviews by students. It is my suggestion that you do have a dictionary or at least a spell check in your computer. In the final drafts, spelling will count. A thesaurus might be helpful as well for the poetry section. Looking forward to meeting all the new and upcoming authors! Rev.
