An umbrella school?  What in the world is an umbrella/cover school?

An umbrella/cover school is a school which offers to oversee your child's education to meet your state's schooling requirements.  It is up to the parent to provide weekly synopses of their child's work.  We cannot "make up" a grade if the authorities come calling.  Laws differ from state to state, and not all require school supervision.  You can check your state's homeschooling laws at NHEN.

I don't want a curriculum.  I just want a cover/umbrella school.  Does GMCA offer this option?

Yes, GMCA offers the umbrella/cover school option.  It is available in most states.  We do require that a student be enrolled for at least 30 weeks before we may vouch for the student's academic achievements.

We have suggested to parents that if their state authorities ask about GMCA, the best response is that you as the parent are reasonably seeking an education for your child that best reflects your religious faith and values.  (The First Amendment is a good thing to include in your explanation.)

TENNESSEE:

We do have students enrolled from the state of Tennessee.  We are not accredited with that state, so if you sign up with our program and you live in Tennessee, you take any responsibility for dealing with your local and state authorities.

What is the cost?

Fee is $70 for PreK through 6th for the school year (August through June).

We are offering a project-based cover school for Middle and Senior High students which is $300 per school year (if family enrolls 2 or more children, then the fee is reduced to $200 per child).  Basic classes must be covered (English, Math, Science, History and Language), however student and parent have incredible flexibility in how they choose to complete these courses.  Each class requires 120 hours of course time (however one achieves this), and completion of the course summary documentation.  Upon completion of a satisfactory course of study (all four years of High School), the student will receive a private school diploma.

This option is perfect for Unschoolers or those who are seeking an umbrella/cover school option, but are not necessarily looking for a Pagan-based curriculum!  Enroll here.

Is there a payment plan available for these fees?

Yes, however, payment must be received in full before student is considered to be active in this program.  Contact us for more information on the terms of this payment option.  There are no refunds for those who withdraw from this option, either during the payment plan period or after the student is actively participating in it.

What are the requirements for Umbrella/Cover School enrollees?

Parents are expected to give a weekly update by email of their child's educational progress, with examples of the work they are doing (using whatever educational approach you favor).  Without this information, we cannot properly represent you to your school district authorities, should they enquire of your child's educational achievement.

This sounds good to me!  Where do I sign up?

Just use the regular enrollment forms you'll find here.  Make sure you indicate you are using the umbrella school option.
