Goddess Moon Circles Academy announces a Gifted program in Mathematics and Science!

Math Grades 4-8 are welcome to sign up for a supplementary mathematics course for Gifted Children. Registration is open now. We will be using the book "Challenge Math" by Edward Zaccaro. This book can be purchased at the Gifted Book store site of www.prufrock.com . 4th-8th graders will be introduced to math through projects instead of worksheets. Practical applications and real thinking exercises will be used to introduce elementary and middle school aged students to statistics, probability, algebra, trigonometry and more! This class will cost $50 for the entire year plus the cost of the book and may be supplemented for the grade's typical math assignments. Science Grades 6-12 Students in the upper grades are welcome to take the more advanced herbal class taught by Rev Treespeaker. Here medicinal and natural plant uses are explained and taught. Growing techniques and scientific classifications are explored more in depth. This class has been offered to our adult audience and is offered for the first time to our advanced and Gifted students. This class is $100 and should be registered by contacting Rev. Treespeaker at treespeaker-at-goddessmoon.org for registration and information. LOG IN

Math Grades 8-10 are welcome to sign up for a supplementary mathematics course for Gifted Students. Registration is open now. We will be using the book "Family Math" by Virginia Thompson and Karen Mayfield-Ingram. This text was developed with the support of the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Dept of Education and the California Renaissance Project. You can find this book at www.amazon.com . 8th-10th graders will be encouraged by the teacher to focus on Algebraic concepts and problem solving as they will be a core part of mathematics in high school and college. This course can be taken in addition to the Algebra classes already offered at GMCA or in place of Pre-Algebra. Some students will also want to take this course to bone up for testing competitions at the Gifted level or for taking the ACT or college SAT early like many of our Gifted, college bound students have done. This class will be for the entire year and is based on a project basis instead of worksheets. It will cost $75 plus the cost of the book. Science Grades 1-5 Students are welcome to take the children's herbal class in place of their regularly scheduled science classes if their parents and teachers feel they need more of a challenge. This class is taught by Rev. Kurokami Smith with her plethora of plant know how. Here, students will learn how to grow herbs and plants as well as learn the beginning of magickal uses and plant folklore. Students wishing to take this class should contact treespeaker-at-goddessmoon.org for more information and registration.
